PENGARUH PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN KONTEKSTUAL TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERBAHASA SISWA (STUDI EKSPERIMEN PADA SISWA SMP NEGERI 26 BANDAR LAMPUNG TAHUN PELAJARAN

ABSTRAK :
Bahasa Indonesia merupakan pelajaran pokok yang harus diajarkan di SMP. Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa, perlu ada penelitian tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan berbahasa. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena terdorong oleh kenyataan di lapangan bahwa kemampuan berbahasa siswa belum optimal. Terdapat faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kekurangmampuan siswa dalam berbahasa. Faktor-faktor yang menjadi variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kontekstual dan kemampuan awal terhadap kemampuan berbahasa siswa.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pendekatan kontekstual berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berbahasa siswa. Apakah pendekatan kontekstual dapat diterapkan pada semua siswa baik siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi maupun siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah 1) kemampuan berbahasa siswa yang diajar dengan pendekatan kontekstual (Contextual Teaching and Learning/CTL) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar dengan pendekatan konvensional, 2) kemampuan berbahasa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi yang diajar dengan pendekatan kontekstual lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah, 3) kemampuan berbahasa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi yang diajar dengan pendekatan konvensional lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah , 4) kemampuan berbahasa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi yang diajar dengan pendekatan kontekstual lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi yang diajar dengan pendekatan konvensional, 5) kemampuan berbahasa siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah yang diajar dengan pendekatan kontekstual lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah yang diajar dengan pendekatan konvensional, 6) terdapat interaksi antara pendekatan kontekstual dengan kemampuan awal terhadap kemampuan berbahasa siswa.
The research reveals that (1) students that are taught by contextual approach have better language competence compared with students that are taught by conventional approach. This can be seen from thitung 5,321 with the significance level of 0,000. (2) Students who have high entry behavior and are taught by contextual approach have better language competence compared with students who have low entry behavior. Based on the calculation, the score of th;h,,,B is 7,334 with the significance level of 0,000.

(3) Students who have high entry behavior and are taught by conventional approach have better language competence compared with those who have low entry behavior. This is supported by the score of thium8 2,778 with the significance level of 0,009. (4) Students who have high entry behavior and are taught by contextual approach have better language competence compared with those are taught by conventional approach. This is shown by the score oft hiding 10,04 with the significance level of 0,000. (5) Students who have low entry behavior and are taught by contextual approach have better language competence compared with those who are taught by conventional approach. This is shown by the score of thug 2,734 with significance level of 0,009.
(6) There is correlation between contextual approach and students' entry behavior. This is supported by the score of Fhj = 27,415 with the significance level of 0,000.

Based on the research, the writer concluded that the implementation of contextual approach can increase students' language competence for both students' who have high entry behavior and who have low entry behavior. Contextual approach can be implemented for students who have various competence levels, low and high entry behavior. Finally, the writer suggests to anyone who are involved in education process to be aware of the importance of the implementation of contextual approach to improve students' language competence.

ABSTRAK :
Bahasa Indonesia is one of compulsory subject for SMP. Some researches must be carried out to reveal the factors that influence students' language competence. This research is carried out to improve students' language competence. There are some factors that influence students' low competence. The factors that are used as variables in this research are contextual approach and students' entry behavior towards students' language competence.

The objectives of this research are to find out (1) whether contextual approach gives significant influence toward students' language competence, (2) whether contextual approach can be applied for students with high and low competence. While the hypotheses of the research are (1) students will have better language competence if they are taught using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach compared with those who are taught using conventional approach, (2) Students who have high entry behavior and are taught using contextual approach will have better language competence compared with students with lower entry behavior, (3) students who have high entry behavior and are taught with conventional approach will have better language competence compared with students with low entry behavior, (4) students who have high entry behavior and are taught by contextual approach will have better language competence compared with students who have high entry behavior and are taught by conventional approach, (5) students who have low competence and are taught by contextual approach will have better language competence compared with students who have low entry behavior and are taught by conventional approach, (6) there is correlation between contextual approach and students' language competence.

The respondents of this research are two classes one is experiment class and the other is control class out of six classes of VIII graders that are available in SMPN 26, samples are collected using random sampling technique,. data collection is done by applying contextual approach in experiment class and conventional approach in control class.
